About the University
Orel State University named after I.S. Turgenev is the largest higher education institution in the Orel Region and the region’s only multidisciplinary center providing continuous training for specialists at all levels in pedagogy, engineering, medicine, the natural sciences, and the humanities.
In 2016, Orel State University named after I.S. Turgenev became one of the first flagship universities in Russia. In 2019, it celebrated its 100th anniversary, and in 2021, it joined the Priority 2030 program, a government initiative supporting higher education institutions.
The university comprises 3 branches, 2 gymnasiums, and 14 institutes and faculties. It offers more than 300 degree programs.

Student Polyclinic
The student clinic has at its disposal a medical infrastructure that includes a day hospital, treatment and diagnostic rooms, specialist physicians’ offices, medical rooms at sports facilities, first-aid posts, medical equipment, medical devices, and medicines.
“Zeleny Bereg” Recreation Center
Guests have access to gazebos, event venues, and comfortable, well-appointed two-storey cottages with all amenities. The recreation center has its own stadium, football field, tennis court, and other facilities for active leisure.

Scientific Library
A comprehensive information base for the university’s research, innovation, educational, student development and production activities, aimed at providing comprehensive support for the training of highly educated specialists and the humanization of education within a multilevel modular system.
Center for Biomedical Photonics
Development of a research field focused on creating methods and control tools for biomedical photonics, commercializing knowledge-intensive products, strengthening the material and technical facilities for specialist training, and expanding international cooperation in education, research, and innovation.
