About the university
Ulyanovsk State University is one of the leading universities in the Volga region, where about 14,000 students study. It was founded in 1988 as the first branch of the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov in the country, and in 1996 it gained independent status. The traditions and quality of MSU, which underlie the activities of the classical university in Ulyanovsk, largely determined the nature of the university's development. More than 2,000 foreign students study at various faculties of USU. The university's infrastructure includes 23 educational and laboratory buildings, 15 sports and health facilities, three student dormitories, and a sanatorium and health complex. The scientific and pedagogical staff of the university includes 137 doctors of science.
