About the University
National Research Nuclear University MEPhI is the country’s leading comprehensive technical university and one of the world’s top centers for nuclear science and education. From the very first days of its establishment, MEPhI became a center for the development of advanced scientific and technical thought and for training highly qualified specialists for strategically important sectors of the national economy, including the nuclear industry. In addition to its contribution to nuclear research, the university played a decisive role in the development of laser science and technology and in the advancement of cybernetics. It was the first Russian university to actively participate in international scientific collaborations, including those with CERN.

Dormitories
MEPhI has three types of dormitories: corridor-style, block-style, and apartment-style. Students are accommodated in different buildings, all of which are within a 7–10-minute walk of the academic buildings. All buildings have security.
Sports
The Department of Physical Education at MEPhI offers training in a variety of sports, including sambo, basketball, rugby, volleyball, fitness aerobics, artistic gymnastics, chess, swimming, table tennis, badminton, hand-to-hand combat, hockey, mountaineering, rock climbing, and much more.
Student Office
The Student Office was established jointly with the Rosatom State Corporation. The space combines a coworking area and a multifunctional center that provides students with access to various electronic services, including information about studies, scholarships, dormitories, and more. The office has soundproof meeting rooms.
Meals
The university campus has canteens, cafeterias, and coffee shops. Vending machines are installed in the academic buildings. Two canteens are located on the ground floor, with access provided for wheelchair users.
Volga Recreation Center
The recreation center is located in an environmentally clean area of Tver Oblast, on the picturesque shore of Vidogoshchinsky Bay on the left bank of the Volga River. The recreation center has everything needed for active leisure and sports. Every student is entitled to preferential accommodation at the recreation center.

The MEPhI campus is not only home to academic and laboratory buildings, but also encompasses a large and very picturesque area—a wonderful place for walks and relaxation. It features shady avenues, beautifully designed benches, and scenic corners. Much of it was created by the university’s students and staff.
