About the training program
This program trains specialists in plant breeding, seed production, and plant biotechnology. Students master both traditional methods for developing new varieties and modern technologies, such as work with cells and tissues, genome editing, and digital breeding. They also learn about business, marketing, and intellectual property protection—all the knowledge a modern plant breeder needs. With state support, the university is actively developing its infrastructure, attracting experienced specialists, and helping students cooperate with companies.
What do graduates do?
Graduates find employment in plant breeding and seed production companies (such as Rusid, Shchelkovo Agrochem, Gavrish, and others), research centers (VIR, the All-Russian Research Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology, and others), universities (including Timiryazevka itself and regional agricultural universities), as well as government bodies—the Ministry of Agriculture, the Russian Agricultural Center, Rosselkhoznadzor, and the State Commission for Variety Testing. They become plant breeders, seed production specialists, biotechnologists, research scientists, or specialists in relevant departments.
