About the training program

The graduate program "Theoretical Physics" is aimed at training highly qualified specialists capable of conducting fundamental research in various areas of theoretical physics and applying the acquired knowledge to solve complex scientific and technical problems. The program is aimed at forming a deep understanding of the mathematical and physical principles underlying modern physics among graduate students, as well as developing skills for independent scientific research.

What will they teach you?

  • Development of mathematical methods in field theory
  • Supergravity and string theory, models with extra dimensions, AdS/CFT correspondence, holographic models
  • Properties of matter and space-time in the universe; classical and quantum cosmology and gravity; properties of vacuum, dark energy; general relativity and its extensions
  • Classical and quantum field theory; theory of fundamental interactions; study of phenomena at small scales and high energies; unified models of fundamental interactions
  • Standard Model of fundamental interactions of elementary particles and its extensions, including those related to the problem of dark matter, neutrino physics, and other phenomenological issues
  • General aspects of quantum theory: foundations, measurement theory, scattering theory, theory of open quantum systems
  • Condensed matter theory; study of various states of matter and physical phenomena within them; statistical physics; theory of phase transitions; physical kinetics
  • Theory of many interacting particles; quantum theory of physical phenomena in nuclei, atoms, and molecules
  • Theory of non-equilibrium systems; theory of chaos and turbulence

What do graduates do?

Graduates of the program are in demand in: • Research institutes and universities. • Laboratories engaged in theoretical research in physics, mathematics, computer science. • IT companies engaged in algorithm development, machine learning, artificial intelligence. • Financial organizations applying mathematical models. • Aerospace industry.
