About the University
Volgograd State Technical University was founded in 1930 and is one of the leading technical universities in Russia.
Around 15,000 students, including approximately 2,500 international students, study at the university and its three branches.
VolgSTU trains highly qualified specialists for the machine-building, chemical, petrochemical, construction and food industries, metalworking and road transport, as well as in architecture, computer technology, economics and management.
Over its 90-year history, VolgSTU has graduated more than 120,000 highly qualified specialists. More than 6,000 graduates from over 80 countries have received university diplomas, and more than 100 international graduates have obtained a PhD.
VolgSTU has a modern material and technical base that enables it to provide high-quality education and conduct advanced scientific research. The university’s technopark manufactures high-tech products for various industrial sectors.

The University Today
VolgGTU is a modern multi-campus university with advanced educational, research and production infrastructure (a large information and library center, research and production facilities, multimedia classrooms, and laboratories equipped with modern technology)
Student campus
- 7 dormitories, with a total capacity of more than 2,500 students;
- each dormitory has a library and a gym;
- sports and recreational and medical and wellness complexes;
- a summer health camp.
Scientific and Technical Library
14 lending departments, 17 reading rooms, 6 Internet classrooms, a reading room for scientific and educational resources (electronic library), more than 200 automated workstations for users, and approximately 2,500,000 books and journals in print and electronic formats covering all fields of knowledge.
Student research
Participation in research activities helps students develop as professionals, gain new knowledge, and improve their research skills, including the ability to process and synthesize information and conduct experiments.
For foreign citizens
VolgGTU has been training international specialists since 1962. In 1973, the University established the Faculty for the Training of International Specialists. Today, the University has all the necessary services for educating international students and providing visa support to foreign nationals.
