About the University
SGU named after Pitirim Sorokin is a dynamically developing university complex with a half-century history; the largest university in the Republic of Komi, including all levels of professional and additional education. The university has a developed scientific and innovative infrastructure based on interaction with industry and academic science, the business community, state authorities, and local self-government bodies. The educational process at the university is carried out by scientific and pedagogical workers with a total number of about 300 people. 73% of the full-time teachers have a doctoral or candidate of science degree. Currently, 6.5 thousand students are studying at the university, and a wide range of educational programs is being implemented: 8 educational programs for training middle-level specialists, 168 higher education programs (bachelor's, master's, specialty), 6 residency programs, 19 programs for training highly qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel (graduate school).

Sanatorium-Preventorium of SGU named after Pitirim Sorokin is a multi-profile medical unit of the sanatorium-resort type university. It has a developed medical and sports-health base.
Botanical Garden
The botanical garden is one of the centers of biodiversity conservation in the European northeast of Russia. The collections of the botanical garden have educational, scientific, educational, and cognitive significance.
On the territory of the garden there are a dendropark, a rock garden, two ponds, and a unique collection of plants.
