About the training program
The aim of the program is to train philologists who possess both in-depth theoretical knowledge in the field of literary theory and history and practical skills in translating and commenting on the works of classical authors, as well as teaching ancient languages and literature. Knowledge of classical languages, ancient mythology, and history makes it possible not only to understand the distinctive features of the worldview of people in the ancient world and the aesthetic and moral foundations of ancient culture, but also to explore the various forms of ancient culture’s influence on the languages and political and cultural processes taking place in modern European countries and Russia. The study of foreign languages—German, Ancient Greek, and Latin—is compulsory.
