About the training program
The aim of the programme is to teach students to navigate the key issues of modern theoretical linguistics: What is the language faculty? How are languages structured and how do they “work”? Why does the frequency of linguistic phenomena vary? Theoretical linguistics is not an ordinary humanities discipline; it requires the ability to develop rigorous algorithms for solving applied problems, such as compiling dictionaries, automatically processing and generating texts, and designing and developing intelligent systems and voice assistants. The programme includes theoretical and applied courses in linguistic disciplines; practical courses in two foreign languages (not English!); courses in ancient languages; and courses in mathematics and programming.
