Five Indian cities will host Russian Education 2018 fair on 19-27 May.

The objective of the event is to present the opportunities and advantages of higher education in Russia to prospective Indian students. The fair will take place in Chennai (19-20 May), Trivandrum (21 May), Mumbai (23 May), Kolkata (24 May) and New Delhi (27 May). The participants are 12 Russian higher education centres including National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Ural Federal University and Far Eastern Federal University. University staff will provide information to Indian applicants on admission dates and requirements, entrance exams, university departments, programmes of different education levels and living conditions in Russia.

Visitors are welcome at the Russian Culture Centres in Chennai (74 Kasthuri Ranga Road), Trivandrum (Svyatoslav Roerich Street, University Postal Station, TS 14/2004-06), Mumbai (31-A G.Deshmukh Street), Kolkata (3 Gorky Terrace) and New Delhi (24 Ferozeshah Road). Preliminary registration at the fair’s website is required; admission is free.

Education in Russia has been increasingly popular in India. According to the Russian Federal State Statistics Service, 5,300 Indian students were studying at Russian universities in 2015/2016 academic year; in 2016-2017 their number increased to 6,600. Indians tend to choose engineering professions associated with nuclear physics, maths and IT; medical programmes have also been popular.
