Admission as part of a general competition
Standard admission procedure for foreign citizens on general grounds. Admission occurs based on the results of entrance tests or on the basis of education documents.

Admission in the presence of an educational grant from Russian or international organizations, funds, state programs. The grant can cover tuition, accommodation, and a scholarship.

By Order No. 3-OD dated 20 January 2026 “On Approval of the Admission Rules,” the new rules for admission to study at SFU in 2026 have been published at: https://sfedu.ru/www/stat_pages22.show?p=ABT/N8202/P OBTAIN HIGHER EDUCATION AT NO COST - You may apply for state-funded places as a Compatriot on an equal basis with Russian citizens and be admitted based on the results of the University’s internal entrance examinations or the Unified State Exam (EGE). - You may apply for a state-funded place and undergo the selection process at the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office (Russian House) in your country. After successfully passing the competitive selection at the Russian House and receiving a referral from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, you must submit the original documents to the SFU Admissions Committee. OBTAIN HIGHER EDUCATION ON A TUITION-PAYING BASIS The admission of foreign nationals to the University for education under contracts financed by individuals and/or legal entities is carried out on a competitive basis for places with full reimbursement of costs within a separate competition group.
