The program is intended for preparation of foreign students to training in bachelor, master’s and post-graduate programs of Russian engineering universities. The program’s span is one academic year. Groups consisting of 10-12 students are formed upon their admission at the university.

Program structure
Overall duration of the program – 1,008 academic hours.
The program is centered on teaching Russian language from zero level to B1 (first certification level). The training is delivered by experienced professors using contemporary guidebooks, methods and multimedia.
Once the students reach level А1 (approximately in 250 academic hours, or in 2 months of training), and additional course on Scientific style of speech is introduced. During this course, the students are expected to master language skills necessary to engineering students, specifically:
  • learn terminology, speech patterns and specific structural features of technical text;
  • learn to read and take notes of technical scientific literature;
  • master technical lecture comprehension, taking notes and reconstruction of its main content based on the notes;
  • learn to understand, write down and read mathematical symbols used in natural and mathematical sciences.
Once the students reach level А2 (approximately in 450 academic hours, or in 4 months of training), courses on Physics and Mathematics are introduced, enabling the students, on the one hand, to recap on the main problems of the sciences as learned at school, and on the other hand, to learn to understand the lecturer’s speech and provide explanation in Russian.
Besides, the courses on Scientific style of speech, Physics, and Mathematics introduce the students to the concepts, terminology and main patterns of speech used in such fields of knowledge as Chemistry, Informatics, Material science, Aviation and Astronautics.

Intermediate and final assessment
Throughout the academic year, the students undergo at least two monitorings in Russian which normally correspond to levels А1 and А2, as well as one monitoring in Physics and one in Mathematics.
As a final assessment, the students pass a test on scientific style of speech and exams in Russian, Physics and Mathematics.
Upon graduation the students are provided with a certificate.
