The scope of the program is to prepare the specialists for advanced engineering career or PhD studies in the fields of laser physics, optics, photonics, infocommunication technologies and fiber optic systems.

The program is focused on applied science and engineering, where theory and lecture courses are combined with hands-on practical work, labs and projects. Students are involved in studies within research groups dealing with promising areas of modern physics, and gain knowledge in optics, photonics and engineering as well as specialized skills in a chosen sub-field.

There are various courses and laboratories related to optics, photonics and infocommunication systems in its curriculum, including studies of optical communication components and systems, laser physics and technologies, characterization of optical fibers, optical devices and systems design, optical signal processing, modern information technologies and others.
